I always recommend fully disconnecting and enjoying your vacations, but being tech-savvy creatures, we understand that our mobile phones are an extension of our bodies. That’s why in my recent getaways, I’ve wanted to try out SIM cards for countries without Roaming. It’s essential to know if the country we’re visiting falls under the coverage of the line and contract we have.

In the European Union, Roaming is quite common, allowing you not to incur extra charges when calling or browsing, for example, to France, Italy, or Germany. But if that’s not the case and the country is outside Roaming, here’s a good option for you.
What SIM card do I need for traveling abroad?
HOLAFLY: Great for landing at your destination with internet on your mobile and saving time. They have SIM cards for most destinations, providing internet for your vacation so you can check Google, social media, or your WhatsApp.
These cards cover virtually the entire world, including Argentina, Australia, Cambodia, Colombia, Egypt, the Philippines, India, Israel, Montenegro, Oman, Peru, Sri Lanka, Turkey, or Vietnam, among many others.
Are there two SIM card options?
The physical and the virtual one, called ESIM, and whose activation is faster because you don’t have to wait for it to be sent by mail.
Which E-SIM should I buy?
All eSIM cards sold by Holafly are prepaid, although not all include the same things. Unlike in Spain, where you have to specify your ID, name, and surname for every SIM card you buy and use in Spanish territory, with Holafly, you’ll only need to insert it into your mobile device and activate it to get it started. However, depending on the type of user you are, you’ll have to consider which one suits you best, such as one that includes 3 GB for 8 days or 1 GB for 30 days, for example.
Keep in mind that not all phones are compatible with all operators or frequency bands worldwide. This means that if you have a device that works perfectly with 4G networks in Spain, it may not be the case, for example, in Russia, because the frequency it receives in Spain and is prepared for may not exist in Russia. This will depend on the model of your phone and the operator in each country, but thanks to Holafly’s customer service, they will tell you directly if your model is compatible with the country you’ll be visiting or not.
Regarding the calling minutes included with each SIM, keep in mind that with them, you won’t be able to call your home country with most cards. If you’re in Tokyo and buy a SIM card compatible with a Japanese company, those minutes it includes are only for national calls within Japan unless otherwise specified.
The same goes for data and the amount of available gigabytes for browsing with a Holafly eSIM card. Both the price and the amount of data it offers, as well as its price, will depend on each country. This is because different telecommunications companies operate in each country.
Anyway, once you select the country where you want to use the eSIM card, at the bottom of the screen, you can see what’s included, as well as what you need to consider when buying the card.
Is there a universal E-SIM card?
There is no master eSIM card that allows you to travel to all countries in the world without changing it. However, since there are some shared operators in certain countries, in some regions, you can use the same eSIM card for multiple countries as long as it is indicated.
FOR THE U.S.: Prepaid eSIM cards are not usually very cheap in the U.S., but thanks to Holafly, you have various affordable options if you want to have unlimited data (Internet), calls, and SMS on your mobile device while traveling in the United States.
The best part is that these cards offer unlimited internet, calls, and text messages starting from 7 days for 34 euros. They have different rates depending on the time you will be in the U.S. The maximum is about four months, which costs 195.95 euros (48 euros per month).
If you’ve read a bit about the best companies for internet and calls in the United States no matter where you are, you’ll be glad to know that they work with AT&T, one of the companies that offers the most coverage in the country. To sign up, click on the following link for MEXICO, U.S., and CANADA
If you are one to travel big and want to visit all of North America in a few weeks, you’re in luck because there is also a perfect eSIM card for you. It is valid for traveling through Mexico, the United States, and Canada, as I mentioned at the beginning of the post.
It is slightly more expensive than the previous one, but it’s worth it considering that it covers three countries. It has different rates for internet, calls, and unlimited SMS depending on the time it will be used. The cheapest, for 7 days, costs 36 euros, and the most expensive, for 60 days, is priced at 178 euros.
In Japan, of course, WiFi is abundant, and it’s not difficult to find places that offer high-speed Internet for free or at a very low cost. Although, no matter how good a public WiFi network is, it cannot compete with the convenience of having internet always in your pocket.
At Holafly, you can find this eSIM card valid for Japan starting from 19 euros for 7 days and 1.5 GB or 8 days with unlimited data for 34 euros.
Thanks to globalization, you can get eSIM cards from the countries you plan to visit on your trip in advance to have everything ready before you start. The most important thing is to enjoy the internet on your mobile from the first minute you get off the plane. I hope I have helped you.
If you follow all these tips, I assure you that you will have many euros left to spend on hotels, excursions, or whatever you fancy doing on your dream trip! I hope I have helped you find the perfect E-SIM for your destination and stay always connected.
